"Nesting" for people with OCD!

"Nesting" -- for those of you unfamiliar with this term, it is the 'motherly instinct' to get everything ready for her upcoming child...in our case it is also a fatherly instinct!

We have officially taken "Nesting" to a whole new level! About two weeks ago we decided to do a few things around the house that we have been wanting to get done...however we needed to act quick before the baby! We put granite in the kitchen...the only 'minor inconvenience' was that we had to go an entire week without the plumbing hooked up in the kitchen (no sink or dishwasher), annoying but nothing to put you over the edge. Then we painted (I say "we" but this really means Chris) the Kitchen, family room, hall and entry (for the second time in a year)...then things really got out of control and Chris tore out all the base boards upstairs and replaced them. Tonight he moved all the furniture out of the bedrooms and tore out the carpet because the carpet layers are coming on Thursday! Are we crazy? Then, Thursday night we have to move everything back to the bedrooms because they are coming Friday to do the Family room! Who does this a week before their baby is due? I don't think I really thought this all through when I suggested we do the carpet...I forgot we'd have to move EVERYTHING, including all the stuff in the closets --- this time when I say 'we,' I am included...so are my parents and brother in law, Ben! Thanks for the help guys! Now I'm exhausted and huge!

People keep asking me if I am ready to have this baby....I feel like screaming "Are you kidding me?" It looks like 'Hurricane Dean' hit our house! I can't have the baby until at least this weekend!

Hi Tiff and Chris! What does OCD mean? And where will Dean's room be?
What a huge amount of work you're doing! Bon courage! Bisous

Danielle- OCD means obsessive compulsive disorder. And tiff, I am having a panick attack just looking at the pictures, I'm sorry you decided this was the right time for this. Hang in there!

I just saw your blog through Nat. Brielle is darling. I can't believe how grown up she looks. And congrats on a boy--I think they are easier.

Yes, you are crazy. You're supposed to spend the last weeks sitting on the couch and eating ice cream sandwiches.

Danielle--the babies room is the room upstairs that was painted pink before (Brielle's room). She now has a 'big girl room' in the basement that is painted pink (of course) but she is going to sleep in the babies room on the daybed for the first few months because he will be in a bassinet--in our room or the family room or somewhere. I don't want to take her to the basement just yet and she is excited to sleep in the babies room and cuddle him (this is what she says)! I'll post pictures this weekend of the finished product!

Thx Nat for the explanation. Yes Tiff it's better for Brielle to sleep in the baby's room for a while. She might feel lonely in the basement... Can't wait for the pics this week-end! Bisous

Crazy... yes, maybe. Even if it is not 100% finished when you bring Dean home, it will be done shortly thereafter and then you will be SO glad it is already done and overwith!!

But then I know Chris will have another project up his sleeve... maybe the kitchen wall will really come down this time.

I think it was great timing. It has to get done, what a deadline!! IT's so exciting!!! I'm going to have to come out to visit soon and check it out. You think Brielle will let me crash on her floor?
