Amazing Musicians!

Tonight I went to my cousin Mindy's benefit concert for 'Nie Nie' and it was AMAZING! Mindy is so talented! I wish you all could have been there! Go here to see pictures. If you don't already have your Mindy Gledhill CD you need to get one!!! Mindy is not actually my cousin by blood (she married my cousin) but they started dating when she was still in high school (I went on one of their first dates with them) and our family all fell in love with her instantly! The family joke is that if we had to pick one to keep--we'd pick Mindy! She is a genuine sweetheart! Ryan is a smart guy...he knew he wanted to marry her instantly!
Mindy sings Brielle to sleep every night with her lullaby CD, she sang on our wedding video, at our wedding luncheon, at our Christmas eve programs...I've heard her a million times...but tonight watching her up on stage in front of hundreds of people it hit me that she is not just my cousin...she is a star!
Mindy had one of my other favorite people in her band tonight...Kendra Lowe. I've known her since I was 5 or 6 and she is such a talented musician and beauty! She and Mindy are a powerful pair! There were a couple of guest appearances tonight that were also great! Ryan Shupe did an amazing 'Devil went down to Georgia', American Idol hopeful David Osmond sang and The Thrillionaires (an musical improv group) were a crack up. However, the best guests were 'Nie's' two little girls who sang Golden Slumbers on stage with Mindy--there was not a dry eye in the room.
Lot's of money was raised...we tried to bid on several things at the silent auction but we kept getting out bid...Chris was right I should have gone higher! I'm so disappointed! On the bright side... Chris' Mormor (grandmother) knitted a hat (which my sister in law Tiffany donated) and it sold for at least $80...that was the last bid I saw! It was touching to see all of these people join together for a good cause...I felt privileged that The Italian Place could be a sponsor and I'm so grateful I could be there! Thanks Mindy!

I really wish I could have been there. I bet it was such a great experience. I am happy that Mormor's hat did so well. I knew it would!

How many people do you think went to it? I am sure it was very well attended.

Also, I forgot that she wasn't your blood relative. I think you two look alike! and even some of your mannerisms are the same! As I was watching that video on Cjane's blog of her singing with cjane and all, I thought, gosh, she and Tiffany totally remind me of each other.

THat is so wonderful. I'm sure it was an amazing event. I even feel cool being some-what related to Mindy!

I wish I could have seen that. I get all teary even hearing about stuff like that. Communities rallying around supporting one another. Then i wonder how these things happen, when people choose to rally and when something turns into a big deal. I wish we did it more often, but then I guess it'd be too common and wouldn't get the desired result each time. There I go again, ending all my thoughts with a downer. I have to work on that.
