"Little old 'house' from Pasadena"

I love the Beach Boys...but not as much as I love Pasadena! My sister was in Pasadena the other day and took these pictures of our old house! My heart is literally aching right now...I cannot even put into words how much I love Pasadena! We moved to this house/4 plex (on the top floor right side) 1 month before Brielle was born...it was built in the early 1900's--amazing craftsman style house! It was beautiful! Eight months pregnant we were driving around Pasadena because I really wanted to move there, (but we could not afford the 2 bedroom apartments because they were all over $2000 a month) and we spotted a sign in front of the house...we called, went in and fell in love! My mom thought we were nuts (I already had the nursery completely set up at our apartment in another city) when she came back from Utah with us after the 4th of July to house crammed full of boxes...but with lots of hard work (by Chris & my mom) we got everything unpacked and she too fell in love with our house!

It was not without its quirks...no A/C, couldn't open bathroom door if someone was on the toilet, my closet was in hall b/c the bedroom closet was tiny, our bedroom had double sliding doors that opened into the family room, Brielle's room was an enclosed porch (see picture-windows in front) that was HOT in the summer and COLD in the winter (which is why she slept with us forever), scary steep stairs down to the backyard (that I slipped down)...On the flip side--it also had the most amazing wood floors, HUGE dining room, built in window seat, beautiful wood details everywhere, beautiful yard! It was great! Did I mention it was the only 4 plex in the area...the houses on both sides were multi-million dollar homes and tons of movies were filmed on the next street over. One last thing...I could walk 3 different directions and be shopping (along the street) at Potterybarn, Tiffany's, Anthropologie etc. within 10 minutes! I miss Pasadena...it was so charming! Thanks for taking this little stroll down memory lane with me!

Funny, I just drove by your old house yesterday and thought how much I missed seeing you guys. There are plants in all of the windows of Brielle's room now. I even ran into Jack and Annemarie a few months ago. Next time you're in town let us know!

Taht was a great place. I remember all that you mentioned -- the wood work, the shopping areas, the steep stairs, the wood floors. I can still see the color of your master bedroom walls in my mind's eye. I loved Brielle's room with all of that natural light -- a beautiful room for a child. Chilly, yes but beautiful!
I remember how cute you had it set up and I remember thinking, someday I will have a room all set up like this for a baby. You had it good there! Little walks to the shops and getting treats with a little Brielle. so fun.

I remember helping you put things away and how much fun it was to see it come together. I loved sleeping in the nursery (sun room) and having the sun wake me in the morning. Remember how we would tip toe around so we wouldn't distrub the people downstairs. The walks in the neighborhood were the best. Best of all was the
"ROSE" we brought home in Pasedena!
