$1 Store Shopping

As an attempt to teach Brielle that Christmas is about giving to other people and not just about what she wants...I like to take her to the $1 store every year and let her chose gifts for her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, Chris etc... all by herself. Last year I let her pick them out all alone and we ended up with toys for everyone...Nat got a $1 barbie doll...but this year I tried to get her to think about what the recipient would like. She sort of 'got it', but we still ended up with random stuff.
I love this 'tradition' (this is our 2nd year), because she takes such pride in her choices and is excited to give what she picked out....even if it is just junk! So...when you unwrap your christmas tree pen, hideous bracelet, hair brush or slinky...know that Brielle picked it out especially for you and she could not be happier with her choice! (except for Chris because she already told him what she got him and now she wants to get something else! Oh brother!)

This is a really nice tradition Tiff! Knowing Brielle I am sure she really brings all her heart in choosing a gift for everyone, she is so concerned about others, it's amazing at her age! Lots of love and bisous to her too!

Aw, that is really nice. I'm excited for my kids to start "getting" more things! And especially to enjoy going to plays and things like The Nutcracker!! I loved your other posts! You guys do such fun stuff.

This is a good idea. The dollar store is a good place to carry it out!

I think I actually got a bracelet last year....and it's still in my jewelry box because I don't have the heart to throw it away. Knowing that she picked it out makes it so special. Can't wait to see you all! xoxo
