Today was 'Santa Lucia Day' and we had a little celebration this morning with my parents. Brielle loves being Santa Lucia, however Dean really hates this hat! We also had Swedish buns & Swedish pancakes...it was a very Swedish day! (FYI-This is one of my favorite of my in laws traditions--my mother in law is Swedish, so Chris and his siblings grew up celebrating/dressing up every year...in fact Amanda dressed up this year for their Stake Christmas Party (see pictures here
http://amandaxo567.blogspot.com/2008/12/santa-lucia.html). Info about Santa Lucia--
http://www.sweden.se/templates/cs/Article____20574.aspx). There are a lot of pictures but they were all so cute!

He hates this hat...it is sad that it looks like a 'dunce cap', but it makes it even funnier that he cries everytime we put it on!

We had a little 'photo shoot' on Thursday for a Christmas/Lucia Day card I was making for our neighbors...have I mentioned that Brielle LOVES being Santa Lucia?!!! Brielle's dress was Nat's when she was little...I had a matching one of course! We used to have all these different 'pinafores' that we were over them...to mix it up...so fancy! Dean is wearing my Christmas program costume from preschool! Good thing my mom kept all of these things!

On the other hand...Dean HATES being a starboy! He was okay with the dress, LOVED the star stick...but every time we put the hat on he flipped out!

"I QUIT!!! You cannot torture me like this anymore" said the cute little Starboy. He really did throw himself on the floor like this (marking the end of the photo shoot), because he was so frustrated that my mom and I kept putting the hat back on!

I had Brielle take out Swedish Ginger Cookies & cards to some of our neighbors today (dressed as Santa Lucia, she LOVED the attention they gave her (do you see a recurring theme here?)!

It snowed today too...so Brielle took a brief break from her 'duties' and played in the snow!

I love the pictures. I can't believe Dean...those pictures are so funny. Maybe he'll like it more next year. Glad you're so on top of posting everything!
hilarious! I think that is the first I have ever seen or heard of Dean having a fit over something. Is it really rare?
Brielle looks beautiful of course. What a fun tradition it is. You should have seen Amanda on the dance floor after the St. Lucia procession. It was hilarious.
Those pictures are so cute! Brielle is getting so big- a new dress every year! I guess it will be like that for a while, huh. Surprisingly you did get some decent ones of Dean! He looks SO SO SO cute in that dress!!
Happy Santa Lucia! I love the pictures of Dean - I think it's hilarious. Thinking of you.
I love all of the traditions you keep alive in your family! They will be such good memories for your kids and it's so fun to see Brielle take her "duties" so seriously! Keep up the good work Mom!
Wonderful pictures. I suggest to skip the hat. It is so special anyway! I saw a recent picture of a Swedish Lucia Day in mormor's room and noticed that the boy did not wear that hat. Perhaps because of the way it looks (like you mentioned.) I am glad he liked to hold the star. Just skip the hat. It's nice that Brielle went to the neighbors. I remember doing that in Sweden with a couple of other girls on Lucia Day evening. I also enjoyed seeing two happy children playing in the snow with their daddy! Also, it was a nice family Lucia picture. Love you all!
Dean is so funny to see when he is not pleased with the hat! Brielle looks so Swedish, she is really cute and takes this beautiful celebration so seriously. It's moving to learn that you keep traditions lively, I love that. I saw on tv on the 13th a program about this Swedish tradition and all its history and it's really really nice. Love you xoxoxoxoxoxox
